Illustration Friday - Trick or Treat
Poor little ghost can't seem to reach the candy corn, the tree is playing a mean trick on this little guy. His buddy hiding behind the tree has obviously scared the cat and doesn't really seem to care about the candy dangling in front of them.
My little Halloween themed piece of art was quite the challenge for me. I didn't want to do something obvious but it still ended up that way. I think it's cute though. Enjoy!

The Red Pitcher
Sold this little guy this morning! It was the second painting I ever did. I've been waiting for someone to love this painting and take him home. So glad he's found a home! :)

Tattoo Help PLEASE!
Well I thought I would share some stuff that I've been trying to figure out lately. OK here goes ... I REALLY WANT a tattoo! But this tattoo has special meaning to me. I've wanted one for years and in my twenties I was so TOTALLY going to get a sun on my ankle. At the time I was a server at a seafood restaurant in Orlando called Shell's and was at the beach on my days off, totally a beach chic! I'm so glad I didn't get that because it really wouldn't have much meaning to me now. The tattoo I want to get is because of my sweet baby girl, Lorelei. She is my inspiration and joy! She will always be my daughter and I will always love her no matter what. I want a piece of art to signify my love for her. My original idea was to have her birth flower which is the carnation (pink) with her name. The carnation is the birth flower for January and it also symbolizes a mother's love which is why it's often given out to mother's on Mother's Day. Now being a designer I thought this would be a simple task to take on, just a flower and a name, but the more I think about it the more I don't want it to look like something everyone else has, I need to mix it up a bit. I'm drawing a blank though. One thought was to have like a gust of wind blowing the flower and petals around because she was a complete and unexpected surprise to Jason and I. Another idea was to have one of those cute vintage swallows holding onto a banner with her name and somehow incorporating the flower in there and if it's not too much to ask I want a heart somewhere. I also like those swirls and scripts they often do. I don't know where to start!! UGH! I've looked at numerous websites, watch Miami Ink and LA Ink, looked at magazines and nothing is coming to me. I don't know if I'm doing too much in one tattoo because I'm not sure what works and I don't want a super HUGE piece of art on me. I'm thinking of putting it on the inside of my ankle or on the backside of my wrist. Any opinions, ideas and thoughts are WELCOME! I'm a tattoo virgin and not sure where to start, can anyone help me??? Thanks so much!!
Art Journal Entry 5
Just a blah day yesterday! I did this today for yesterday, I had no time at all yesterday. So I'm a day behind with journaling but that's ok. I like how it turned out, it's simplistic and fun. You can still see the lips in the cloud on the right hand side, it was a woman from the day before but hated how she turned out. I like my rainy day better.

Adirondack Almanack: With Pipe and Book: Will Lake Placid Lose The Adirondacks' Best Book Store?
Recycling Cigar Boxes
Well I just had to get these great cigar boxes. They were calling my name while in Lake Placid on Sunday. We went to one of our favorite places to go when there called With Pipe & Book. It's this fabulous multi-level book store that has many, many books of all ages, shapes and sizes. It has vintage maps and lots of books on the Adirondacks. It also has a huge selection of cigars, pipes and tobacco for the pipes. The place also has it's own mascot, Winston the dog who is an English Springer Spaniel, the sweetest dog too! The woman behind the counter wasn't too friendly on Sunday for some reason, normally she's pretty nice but that didn't put a hamper on our time there. I started decorating the wooden boxes you can get at Michael's as gifts and thought it would be great to get some cigar boxes. I found out they were soooo cheap. I got the two cardboard ones for a dollar a piece and the wooden one was 7.50. So the total was 9.50, not bad I thought. Now let's see if they just collect dust or if I actually create something marvelous with them! I'll have to pick more up whenever we go to LP again. If you are ever in Lake Placid, NY you should totally check it out. Read the above link, just found out With Pipe & Book is closing. sniff sniff.
Art Journal Entry 4
This was from Sunday, we had a wonderful family day outside. We took our daughter Lorelei to Lake Placid for the first time and made stops along the way to play in the leaves. I don't think I'll ever forget how great the day was. We took some beautiful pictures and have wonderful memories from this day. I had to journal it!!

Art Journal Entry 2
Day 2 and still going strong! LOL This is a little ditty I did while Lo was napping. I'm loving this art journal thing, it will be interesting to see how my style changes and grows at the end of the journal. I hope you enjoy it but if you don't it's OK because it's all mine! :)
Illustration Friday - Grow
Today's topic for IF was "Grow", I had thought of doing something a little more obvious that included plants or flowers but then this idea hit me! My little 9 month old daughter is constantly growing like a weed and growing out of her socks, hence my little illo for today. The text at the top says, "as they family grew, so did their socks." I had to include my "Swirlyville" birds because they're so friendly and fun!!! Enjoy!

My first journal entry
Well I received my Moleskine in the mail today and I managed to get my first entry in. It was hard to start at first because I was thinking too hard about what to draw, afraid was going to screw something up. I have to get that mindset out of my head because it's just an extension of me and I can't possibly screw it up. There is no right or wrong when it comes to art journaling and I have to remember that. My focus words were "Grow" and "Learn", which is exactly what I'm trying to do artistically. I'm hoping this will give me the freedom to branch out and try new things. It is a daily challenge for myself and I hope I'm up to it! I would love to hear from those of you who have an art journal as well. Has it helped you grow & learn? Thanks for your input!
HUGS!

Fall Speaks
Just a new image I created today while my daughter was napping. I was feeling super creative with thoughts of Fall running around in my head. It's sooo cold out today so this print just warmed me up. This is now my newest print in my Etsy shop. Check it out!

WOO HOO! I made it onto an Etsy Treasury List!!
This is definitely blog-worthy! Kudos to me and thanks to eclecticelements for putting me in their treasury!! I'm on the bottom row in the middle!
Illustration Friday - "Extreme"
My concept for this weeks topic "Extreme". It's basically just an extremely twisted tree with a little Fall theme thrown in. All drawn in Photoshop using different brushes and my trusty little Wacom that I LOVE! Not sure if I'll sell it as a print yet or just keep it to myself. Opinions? Update: It's now a print in my Etsy shop! LOL

Promo card 1
I will be adding little 1" buttons or magnets to these cards! I designed a whole set, one thank you card (same size), this card and a sticker! Can't wait to get them. Ordered them from promoshop.etsy.com
Open - Illustration Friday
My design for this week's IF topic "open". The concept being her arms are open to everyone, you need to have an open heart, she's in the opening of the circle. This is a photo I took in Montreal, Quebec a few years back. It's a statue on the facade of Notre Dame, I thought it was beautiful as I had never noticed it before, I've been to this church a million times to look at its beauty and this day just noticed this statue of Mary. Crazy what you see and don't see, huh? I think it illustrates the topic well! Enjoy!!!
