My second tattoo, fresh today.

So I got a tattoo today out of the blue! Actually I was at my eye appt. waiting to check out when my hubby texted me to say that there was a cancellation at the tattoo shop where I go and to call them! I was not expecting a tattoo today, I had to wait until Aug. 8th to get it done. I was thrilled when I found out. He was home sick today, if he hadn't been sick I would have had to pass on the appt. today. It all worked out the way it should have I think. This lovely fresh tattoo is in honor of my late Nana who passed away a few months ago. She loved strawberries and cardinals and there are 13 lily of the valley's as well which was her birthday and the same day she passed on her 89th birthday. This cardinal was based on a painting I did while she was sick. This painting is now hanging on my side of the bed where I can see it daily. While I was getting the tattoo done I could picture her looking down on me saying, "my Aimée!!" which she often said while laughing. I miss her dearly and can't wait to be reunited in Heaven with her some day. My wonderful tattoo artist is Kristen from In Living Color Tattoo! I'd work with her again in a heartbeat! She did my first tattoo as well. Just thought I'd share!

I miss you Nana!

2 More Little Ones

Got busy last night creating and it felt good. I think my creativity is going to help get me through this rough time. I'm so thankful for this gift from God.

Out of the Blue (pictured above)
I made molds of these flowers out of vintage pins, buttons and beads so I can recreate them at any time!! I may do a series of these with limited color schemes. It was so much fun!! I melted UTEE in my melting pot and poured them into the molds!! So much fun and a whole new world to explore!!! This is a 5 x 5 piece and has water color crayons, acrylics, UTEE flowers, silver marker and oil marker. This is now listed on ArtFire.

A Little French
I started this piece a few weeks ago and never finished it until last night. I like how it turned out. I used a light molding pasted for the Fleur de Lis and stamped in the image from a foam stamp I have. It has lots of nice texture to it. It's now listed on Etsy.

Enjoy!

Off to get my daughter to her 2 year check up, fun fun!

Thank you to all who responded to my blog yesterday. Reading everyone's heartfelt comments made my day a bit easier. This is a rough time and I know she will no longer be in pain so that eases it a bit but I'm sure going to miss my Nana. I'm working on another tattoo in memory of her. It will probably include a cardinal, a strawberry and some lily of the valley flowers. All her favorites. I'll keep you posted on that.

I've been inked!! FINALLY!

Some of you know I've been wanting to get this tattoo for quite some time, well today was the day! I'm so excited at how it turned out. It didn't hurt as bad as I had built it up in my head. My good friend Holly came with me to document it! If you'd like to see more photos you can see them here. I know this means if I have another kid in the future that means another tat, cool with me!!

Tattoo update!

Well as some of you know I've been contemplating for over a year about getting a tattoo representing my daughter and for my love for her. I am THRILLED to say it hit me last night while in bed!!! She was just diagnosed with a Stills Murmur by her pediatrician the other day. It's nothing horrible or bad, nothing wrong with her heart or any cause for concern, I did some research and found out the other name for it. It is called the "musical heart", this soooo fits her!! She was dancing in my womb and has always been around music, this is the first baby I know who has had an iPod in her room since the day she was born. She dances to every type of music even in commercials, she definitely has a musical heart!! So this is the basis of my tat, I want the heart to be the main part of a body of a bird, coming from the back side of the bird will be musical bars with notes from the song "Miracle" by Celine Dion (this song is exactly how I feel about her), the notes and bars will flow into feathery swirls (tying into my love of swirls and my series Swirlyville). I want it to be soft and flowy!! I'm sooooooo excited about this and that the idea finally came to me. I tried drawing it out but the idea in my head and what's on paper aren't meshing so I'm going to go to the tattoo artists today and see if they can sketch it out for me. I'm going to put in on the inside of my left wrist, where my creativity flows from, I'm a lefty and she's my inspiration!!! So when I have the sketch I'll show ya and when I get the tatt I'll show you as well! I'm sooooooo very happy about it!!!!!

Tattoo Help PLEASE!

Hi all,

Well I thought I would share some stuff that I've been trying to figure out lately. OK here goes ... I REALLY WANT a tattoo! But this tattoo has special meaning to me. I've wanted one for years and in my twenties I was so TOTALLY going to get a sun on my ankle. At the time I was a server at a seafood restaurant in Orlando called Shell's and was at the beach on my days off, totally a beach chic! I'm so glad I didn't get that because it really wouldn't have much meaning to me now. The tattoo I want to get is because of my sweet baby girl, Lorelei. She is my inspiration and joy! She will always be my daughter and I will always love her no matter what. I want a piece of art to signify my love for her. My original idea was to have her birth flower which is the carnation (pink) with her name. The carnation is the birth flower for January and it also symbolizes a mother's love which is why it's often given out to mother's on Mother's Day. Now being a designer I thought this would be a simple task to take on, just a flower and a name, but the more I think about it the more I don't want it to look like something everyone else has, I need to mix it up a bit. I'm drawing a blank though. One thought was to have like a gust of wind blowing the flower and petals around because she was a complete and unexpected surprise to Jason and I. Another idea was to have one of those cute vintage swallows holding onto a banner with her name and somehow incorporating the flower in there and if it's not too much to ask I want a heart somewhere. I also like those swirls and scripts they often do. I don't know where to start!! UGH! I've looked at numerous websites, watch Miami Ink and LA Ink, looked at magazines and nothing is coming to me. I don't know if I'm doing too much in one tattoo because I'm not sure what works and I don't want a super HUGE piece of art on me. I'm thinking of putting it on the inside of my ankle or on the backside of my wrist. Any opinions, ideas and thoughts are WELCOME! I'm a tattoo virgin and not sure where to start, can anyone help me??? Thanks so much!!
